Hello everyone!

Ready to see the cover for A Kiss of Treason (the Kingmakers' War book #3)?

...

...

And here's the summary again:

Following another successful mission with Kael and his company, Briand is torn between two choices--should she disappear to protect herself or stay with her friends, even though she is not a Monarchist?

When she and Kael are arrested as spies and taken to the prince's secret court for trial, everything becomes even more complicated... the Seeker Auberon continues to hunt her in her dreams, Briand's feelings for Kael--and his for her--torment them both as they struggle to trust each other in the midst of secrets and conflicted political loyalties, and then there's a traitor among the nobility who has attempted to assassinate the prince.

And some people seem to think that traitor might be Kael.

New Book Coming Soon!

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted. I've been sequestered away, hiding from the summer heat like a vampire and writing books and bargaining with my creative muse. (She mostly responds to chocolate doughnuts.)

Lots of things in the works for fall and winter... Some I'll get to another day, but I wanted to announce that I've been writing a new YA thriller, ALL HER SECRETS, and you can pre-order it now!

Here's the cover.

And here's the book blurb:

Nothing is as it seems in this psychological YA thriller set in a not-too-distant future.

A GIRL WITH SECRETS

Eighteen-year-old Victoria, the daughter of robotics genius Bill Faraday, is home from college for the weekend to confront her father about a secret he’s been keeping when she’s kidnapped out of her parents’ luxury mountain home.

A GUY FROM THE WRONG SIDE OF THE TRACKS

Eighteen-year-old Sam is just a poor kid from Valley City, but he knows who Victoria is as soon as his cousin Craig drags her from the trees. He doesn’t want anything to do with what appears to be a revenge kidnapping, but Craig has a gun and needs someone to take the fall if things go wrong.

A DESPERATE PLAN TO SURVIVE

Craig and his buddies imprison Sam and Victoria in an abandoned mountain cabin with the assurance that they’ll be ransomed soon. But weeks pass, and Sam and Victoria worry they’ve been left for dead. Putting aside mistrust for tentative friendship, Victoria and Sam conspire to escape together, and the close quarters and forced teamwork ignite a startling attraction between them. Then they discover strange cave tunnels beneath the cabin. And what they find inside the tunnels gets more and more bizarre.

With a plan in place to escape, freedom seems within reach. But unrevealed secrets from Victoria’s past are coming back to haunt her.

FOR WRECK AND REMNANT is here! Also, a sale!

Hi everyone,

A couple of cool things!

First, For Wreck and Remnant (Secrets of Itlantis #4) is now available for purchase on Amazon (Nook and paperback coming soon). This one is my husband's favorite in the series, and there are a few big reveals and answers about secrets... I hope you enjoy it.

EDIT: You can get the Nook version here and the paperback here on Amazon or here on Createspace.

Second, Frost is on sale as a Kindle Countdown Deal at 99 cents (normally $3.49) for a very limited time. If you (or someone you know) haven't read the Frost Chronicles, this is a great time to start. You can grab a copy here.

Other news - I've just finished the first round of edits for the New-Book-That-Has-Not-Been-Named. I am seriously behind on title selection with this one, ughhh. Choosing a title can be really easy sometimes, and practically impossible other times. This is one of the latter. Working on that today, actually. Again, this book is set in the same country as A Gift of Poison, but a couple hundred years in the future. It is one of my favorites ever and I really think you guys are going to like it. Think Zorro! So stay tuned for more info about that, and maybe a pre-order option pretty soon.

I'm also kicking around a completely new idea that I find delightful. I might be crazy, because I have a bunch of other stuff on my calendar to write/complete. But I really like this new idea. It is calling to me. Don't worry though--I have already starting drafting Secrets of Itlantis #5, as well as plotting/working on the sequel to A Gift of Poison. Both of those will come out this year, hopefully around late spring and summer, as I'm taking a few months off after I have my baby.

Happy reading!

Fall Creative Energy

Hi everyone!

I've been really busy with personal things for the last few months, so pretty much the only work-related stuff I've done has been working on writing projects and editing and releasing my latest book. Hopefully I can be more present online now. I'd like to blog more, for instance.

October is here, my favorite month, and it's given me a burst of creative energy. I've started making art on deviantART again. I've missed that, and it makes me really happy.

I've read a couple really good books lately, so look for my thoughts on those.

Hope you're all enjoying your fall so far.

Secrets of Itlantis Series, New Projects, and Other News

Hi everyone!

Spring is starting to creep into the landscape down here in the south. Daffodils are sprouting, trees are looking like cotton candy, and the air is warming up. Spring always awakens a bit of extra creative juice in me, so I'm taking full advantage of this weather and writing and brainstorming like mad.

The second book in the Secrets of Itlantis series, titled BY SUN AND SALTWATER, is (mostly) finished being revised and should release very soon, probably next month (April). The cover is also finished, and I should be revealing it shortly! I've already started plotting book 3. I'm hitting that place in writing a series where the characters and world are beginning to become familiar, which makes writing for them pleasant. It's one of the reasons I love writing series.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but I think Secrets of Itlantis will have 6 books total in the series. I was originally thinking it would be 5, but the numbers got shuffled around in the last month as I continued to plot the long-term arcs of the story and decide where everything should go. I know roughly what happens in each book, and I have some fun stuff planned that I'm excited about, but I'm also looking forward to the unexpected developments that crop up with every new book.

In addition to Secrets of Itlantis, I have 2 other projects that I've been working on as I have time and energy. I am devoting the majority of my time to the series, since I don't like making people wait to read books, but I am excited about these new projects too. Hopefully I'll  have more information to reveal in upcoming weeks/months as they progress.

Happy almost-Spring, everyone!

Coming Soon! OF SEA AND STONE!

Okay guys, some news!! Sorry for the long radio silence. I've been working like mad on several really exciting projects. And I have news!

First, there's been a title change. I was previously calling the new book Sea Captive, but the new and final title will be Of Sea and Stone.

(Add it on Goodreads!)

It will be #1 in a brand-new series, and you'll hear a lot more about that in the upcoming weeks, and get to see the cover, and all that good stuff! I'm doing a cover reveal with Xpresso Book Tours, so if you're a blogger and you want to participate in that, I'll have a sign up link available shortly.

EDIT: Here's the sign-up link if you would like to participate in the cover reveal for Of Sea and Stone!

Second, I'm currently in the middle of revisions for newly-christened OSaS. Ack! Revisions are hard and make me crave chocolate and never getting out of bed. But I'm slogging through them, then my lovely editor will have a second pass at the novel, and then more revisions and then proofing and formatting. I should be done with the book by sometime in early Feb. I'll give you an idea of the release date a little closer to them, and you can always sign up for my new releases newsletter or click on my Amazon profile and subscribe under "stay up to date."

Third, Of Sea and Stone is coming out in February, so stay tuned for more information, teasers, and excerpts in the upcoming weeks. I'll also be participating in a "book blitz" to spread the word about the new series, and I'll have a sign up eventually for that as well, so again, if you blog and want to participate, stay tuned because I'd love to have you.

Fourth, I'm working on a new and secret project in between revisions for Of Sea and Stone. Am I crazy? Probably. Do I love this new project? YES YES YES. It is lovely and weird and really cool. There's magic and hot guys and cool worldbuilding and, of course, all kinds of delicious secrets and mysterious things. I hope you guys like it. It's not a very long piece, maybe novella length, and the start of maybe a series of stories set in the same world and following several characters. I'm not sure yet, it's all very in flux right now, but I am excited about it and I think you guys are going to love it.

Thank you to every lovely person who has written me in the last few weeks about my books. It always makes my day. You guys are the best.

~Kate

Teaser for the NEW SECRET SERIES!!

Note: this beauty isn't the cover, just a teaser picture. Feel free to share this on your blogs, facebook pages, and tumblrs if you'd like!

And a teaser from the prologue:

The People of the Rocks live above the sea in the rocks from which they get their name—a collection of bone-white shards of hulking stone that protrude from the jewel-green water like the teeth of a rotting jawbone, sea-stained and crumbling even in their glory. The village is carved into these rocks, carved deep like the tunnels of ants into the earth, and the effect is that of thousands of pin-pricks of light when it is night and the sea and sky are dark. Travelers say it looks as though someone has folded the sky around the rocks like a blanket, and all the stars are on fire.

The melody of the waves lulls the babies to sleep at night in their seaweed-fiber cradles, and the rush of the tide makes them wake in the morning. The People of the Rocks sing love songs about the sea, and they play in its shallows as children, but as men they grow to fear its power and its secrets.

If only we’d known how many secrets the sea held.

Stay tuned for more details coming soon!

And as always, if you are excited about this new series, you can follow me on Facebook or sign up for the new releases newsletter to stay up-to-date.

Aeralis Synopsis

You guys, I forgot to share the Aeralis synopsis!!

I wrote it ages ago and then I forgot to share it.

So here it is:

Lia Weaver and her friends have finally driven the Farther soldiers from the Frost, but all is not settled yet. Ann Mayor and her father have found themselves the target of violence, the villagers are fighting, and Jonn’s life hangs in the balance.

When an unexpected enemy surfaces in the Frost wilderness and endangers Lia’s family, she is faced with a terrible choice, and against Thorns orders, she sets out to find answers in Aeralis.

Sorry that synopsis is SO SHORT. It has to be, because I don't want to give away spoilers!!

The cover is coming soon!

Bluewing Teasers #2

Guess what, you guys?

I just finished the final round of edits for Bluewing!

So...this means I have one more read-through to do, and then the book goes to formatting, and then it will be available for Kindle and Nook!! I am tentatively guessing/hoping it will be available next week. I'm pretty excited. And judging from what I've heard from a bunch of you nice folks, you guys are too. :)

The paperback will come out a few weeks later, because that still has to be proofed and that takes time. But the ebook versions should be in your eager hands very very soon. Again, sign up for the newsletter because I'll be sending out an email to let my subscribers know, and I'll also post the good news here and on Twitter and Goodreads. Also, be sure to check and make sure that the newsletter isn't getting caught in your spam filter. That would be sad.

Anyway, I'll let you lovely people know as soon as it's available to buy...but until then, here is a tiny little bit of a teaser. And because it's a teaser, AKA it's meant to TEASE, I'm not gonna tell you WHO this line is about. :) You'll just have to guess/wonder/hope.

Before he could say anything else, I put my hands on either side of his face and kissed him

:) :) :)
